How Ear Hearing Aids Work To Amplify Sound
There are more than 28 million Americans who have some degree of hearing loss. Often, their friends and family tire of repeating themselves or shouting so that they can be heard. Sadly, some of these people will just stop trying to communicate. Some will choose to use digital hearing aids. Hearing aids are tiny electronic devices inserted into the ears that amplify sound. According to research, however, only one in five people that could be helped by hearing aids uses them. The reasons these people do not get hearing aids can be the cost or just the embarrassment. They feel there is a stigma attached to wearing hearing aids. However, there are many hearing aids that are affordable and some that are small enough to go unnoticed.
Hearing aids are actually pretty simple devices with four main components:
1. They have a microphone that picks up the sound in the area and changes it to an electrical signal. That signal is then sent to the amplifier.
2. The amplifier in turn turns up the volume of the sound and sends it the receiver.
3. There is a receiver and speaker system that turns that electrical signal back into sound, which goes to the ear.
4. The fourth part of the hearing aid is the battery, which is needed to power it.
There are a variety of digital hearing aids in a variety of price ranges. Hearing aids don’t work for everyone, but it can’t hurt to see a specialist and find out if they are right for you.
